Rebuilding the medical student’s hostel in Galle

Medical students hostel in Galle that provided accomodation for over 200 students was destroyed by the Tsunami. These students come from whole of southern province and are currently housed in accomodation throughout the area. A land was identified within the campus and the building work for a new hostel with 107 rooms housing 214 medical student has now started. The hostel will also contain common rooms, library, computer room and catering facilities. This project is costed at £375,000 (US$650,000) and we are grateful for your contributions towards this project. You have the opportunity of funding a room at a cost of £3,000 either individually or on a shared basis. (Your donation can be acknowledged with a plaque against the room showing the donor’s details at your request)

Project almost finished, we have had some difficulties with increased cost of material over the project time and also drop in the sterling pound against Sri Lankan ruppee. We are now raising funds for completing the exterior work and furniture for the rooms and common areas. Other tiems needed include computers and books for the study area/ library
